Marc’s Huge Sports Accomplishments (Some)

Here are just some of Marc Bluestone’s many huge sports accomplishments from his high school days until he was 50 years old. Marc has earned more than 90 trophies and awards in different sports throughout the years—beginning in the 1950s through the 1980s.

Marc at Fairfax High School:

• All City LA Basketball
• All City LA Baseball
• Athlete of the Year for two consecutive years
• Player of the Year, League—Basketball
• Player of the Year, League—Baseball
• Led League in Scoring in Basketball
• Led League in Batting Average in Baseball
• All-League in Track & Field
• Acknowledged as one of the greatest athletes in the school’s history

Marc in College & Later in Life:

College Basketball Inter-School League

• Scored 71 points in one Basketball game and averaged 40 points a game in that Basketball League at U.C.L.A

College Football Inter-Mural League

• Marc’s team won the championship
• Marc averaged more than two touchdowns a game as a wide receiver, flanker with an undefeated team

Industrial & Entertainment Leagues

Marc played during his 20s, 30s and 40s:

Fast Pitch Softball on different teams, leagues and years

• Player of the Year in League
• Led league in home runs and runs batted in and batting average of over 400
• Won league batting average title for three consecutive years (batting average of over 500)
• Held highest batting average in league’s 25-year history: 548
• Won numerous team championships over the years

Special Interest-Entertainment League

Played a number of years in the middle 60s on a team where part of the batting order was:

Batting 2^nd: Rick Nelson (Catcher)

Batting 3^rd: Marc Bluestone (Centerfield)

Note: Rick Nelson was an excellent player and super person.

Basketball

• Played on undefeated championship teams (in my middle 20s & 30s)
• Led the league in scoring 30 points per game
• Scored a record 51 points in one game
• Won scoring titles in different leagues

Hall of Fame

• Marc was elected and inducted in the California Sports Hall of Fame in 2011, for his extraordinary sports accomplishments throughout his life.
• A person associated with the election committee said marc was the greatest basketball and baseball player I ever saw play in those sports. Easily the greatest athlete I ever saw.

Note from Marc: “I am the proudest to have played at a high level of sports from childhood until I was 50 years old with my God-given talent, and to have experienced the comradeship on different teams with my teammates and to contribute with my achievements to win. I was fortunate to play with pro athletes as an adult and to do well in my 20s, 30s and 40s.”

Marc’s proudest moment was when he made a leaping-over-the-fence catch in the last inning to win a league championship baseball game with both his mother and brother present. He also takes great pride in being so respected by his peers for his ability and the way he played sports throughout the years.

Even as a child and as an adult, Marc was an extraordinary athlete in every sport that he played.
